Bristol Airport Taxis

January 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment

So, nice and easy, walk out through the main entrance and… there you go, what was AIRPORTCARZ and is now CHECKERCARS, Uhmmm.

Lets read the speal that Bristol international airport gave us last year “Press Release on behalf of BIA” This Link now appears to be dead!!!! I will quote “important to seek the best possible service and standards for our customers”

Now I will have to agree that Checker cars is providing a good service, they are convenient, and it is a 24hr service. That said are they looking after you the customer. No.

For some strange reason BIA has put themselves in the position that we, us, all Bristol Taxi companies have serious trouble picking up and dropping of our customers! Why?

The pick up and set down area of the airport is now reserved for Checkercars and Coaches, that is the area that was designed for that purpose has been closed to properly licensed and plated Publice Hire and Private Hire vehicles from not only Bristol but any area except if your name is Checkercars. This does cause problems for customers certainly mine. My more elderly passangers have a fair old walk to the departure building now. Passangers whom have made a booking through my company will struggle to find me in the Rapid Pick Up Car Park which by the way is too small and at busy times fills up completely.

So why is it that Bristol Taxis cannot pick up or drop of at Bristol Airport easily? Because they have been paid off by selling the concession!

So of course BIA only had you the customers interests at heart. Why is it them that you are paying up to 3 times the normal fare that you would be charged within the Bristol Tarriff structure, not only that person A is going to place Z but also person B gets in with you who has also paid his fare and he wants to go to X !

Why not get your own properly licensed Bristol Taxi and travel in comfort ojn your own if you wish either to or from BIA and we will charge you a fare price.

Rant Over. by the way you could always use my company! Bristol Hackney Cabs

Thank You.

Bristol Taxi Prices, How fares are calculated

January 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

A mystical art, BRISTOL TAXI prices!Hackney Cabs within Bristol are governed by Bristol City Council and the prices or fares within Bristol are set by the Council. However for journeys outside of the City there is no set pricing. You are left to decide upon a price with your driver. So, how do drivers arrive at a price?Generaly pricing is done “on the hoof” some drivers refer to a price book which is not endorsed or regulated by Bristol City Council! The pricing strategy is arrived at by these things…

What time of day is the journey? If the journey is made during the day we of course have to take into account Traffic.
How many people or Drops? If there is more than one stop or drop off then there will be a small surchage .

Is it a straight run, i.e. Motorway all the way or country roads? Obviously if the journey is direct via motorway for a 50 miles as opposed to a 50 mile journey via A or B roads the later would be more expensive.

So ultimately you are paying for these elements…

Time & Fuel Cost here is the formula that can be used…

M = Milage there and back, F = Cost of fuel per gallon, MPG = 35 Avg miles per gallon for vehicle used, AVG = 55 mph Average speed for whole trip, HR = Preffered hourly wage

(M / MPG * F) + (M / AVG * HR) = FARE

For example… London City there and back 240 miles

240miles / 35mpg *£5.00 =£34.29

240miles / 55mph * £25=£109 Total fare £143.29

Add these 2 figures together to give you the fare. However, some drivers may charge £10 ph and some more but it does show you the customer what elements are used in pricing. For more info or to book visit http://www.bristolhackneycabs.co.uk

Thanks.
